FAQ
Inspired by questions frequently asked (imagine that!), here’s our page of Frequently Asked Questions.
1. Are you open for submissions?
Yes, we are! We’re looking for mystery novellas with strong female characters for our Damned Dames imprint. Click here to read the full guidelines and learn how to submit.
2. Can I send you my political treatise, religious tract, or random manuscript with every poem I’ve ever written?
Please don’t. We are looking for mystery novellas only. So if you send us something else, we will be very annoyed at your inability to read, and might even post your terrible queries on our Facebook page to publicly shame you.
3. Where are you located?
Buttontapper Press HQ is in sunny SoCal – San Diego, to be exact. Author and publisher Laura Roberts’s bio says she lives in an Apocalypse-proof bunker, but she’ll let you decide whether or not you consider this to be creative embellishment.
4. Can I meet up with you for coffee or alcoholic beverages?
Not really. Sorry, but we’re super busy working on writing, editing and publishing new books every day of the week – and that includes weekends! But we love getting invitations to events, so if you’ve got something happening in the SoCal area that we might want to attend, feel free to email us about anything relating to books, ninjas or literary events!
5. Where can I buy your books?
Check out the Bookstore page for all of our titles currently available. You can buy from any of your favorite online booksellers, for ease and convenience. If you’d like a signed paperback, just email us and we’ll see what we can do!
6. Do you have any freebies?
We sure do! If you sign up for our newsletter, you’ll get a free copy of A Cheater’s Guide to NaNoWriMo, as well as notifications when our other books are on free days. You can also read some of our short stories online for free; that list is over here.
7. What’s a PDF?
It’s a file that looks the same on any platform, invented by Adobe before there were ebooks. PDF stands for Portable Document Format. Basically, it’s a file that will let you read our books on any computer, e-reader, tablet or other futuristic digital reading device, so therefore PDFs ARE AWESOME.
8. What’s the difference between a .MOBI file and an .EPUB?
On some level, we’d have to say “beats me!” but apparently Kindle uses .MOBI files and every other e-reader on the planet uses .EPUB files. Yes, it’s crazy. And confusing.
9. Are these really questions people have frequently asked you?
Of course! Why would we lie? Okay, maybe some of them are more Infrequently Asked Questions, but whatever. Ask us another one!
