Hello and welcome to the 2020 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge! I’m writing one new meet-cute per day as part of my “Sacramento Love” theme. Read along as couples find themselves falling for folks in lucky locations across California’s capital city. In this time of social distancing, there’s no need to fear a little fictional fun, so get your romance fix here and enjoy!
P.S. Today’s story was inspired by Writer’s Block Coffee, who really are donating 100% of their sales today to Feeding America! They’re aiming to raise $1,000 for the hunger charity, so if you need to stock up on coffee (or just want to try something new), today’s the day.

Fiona isn’t normally the type to agree to a brewery tour, but for sake she’ll make an exception. A confirmed Japanophile, she can’t get enough of the culture, and the Gekkeikan tour promises a koi pond and Japanese garden in addition to wine tasting.
“Shall we meet at the tasting room?” her suitor texts.
“See you there,” she replies, then turns to her closet in search of the perfect kimono for the occasion.
At 1 PM, decked out in a cherry blossom patterned robe and platform sandals that reveal magenta toenails, she feels a tap on her shoulder. Turning around, Fiona finds herself face to face with Jeremy, her date. Dressed in a cream suit jacket, pink button-down shirt, and khaki pants, she is instantly attracted to his sartorial style.
“Great shirt,” she compliments him.
“Killer kimono,” he replies, with a small bow. “Sake?”
She accepts a small porcelain cup from the tasting host’s tray, and they clink their drinks together.
“Kanpai!” they chorus.
“This is our Kobai, or plum wine. Please enjoy,” the host instructs them as they sip.
“Delicious,” Fiona declares.
“Perfection,” Jeremy one-ups with a wink.
Fiona blushes, and lowers her eyes to the floor as her lips curve upwards involuntarily.
He leans closer to whisper in her ear. “You’re going to love the garden. The sakura are in bloom.”
“This way, ladies and gentlemen,” the host announces, leading the way into the factory.
Jeremy offers Fiona his arm, and she accepts it, heart beating faster as they link elbows. She can’t wait to learn more about the sake brewed in the factory, the way Jeremy’s muscles move beneath his clothing, and what that flirtatious glint in his eye really means.
Don’t miss a magical moment!
