Love in the time of Coronavirus
As you have no doubt heard from every single corporation that has access to your email by now, the Coronavirus/COVID-19 has shut down the state of California for the foreseeable future. Which is bad news for my planned April 1st release of my new travel guide, Sacramento From A to Z, but is good news for my fiction WIP, Parisian Persuasion (to which I have switched my efforts, in order to maintain my sanity).
The government mandated lockdown means that everyone is supposed to stay inside for at least a month, except to access essential services, in order to slow the spread of the virus. People are understandably freaking out, myself included, and looking for ways to distract ourselves from this horrifying new reality. (Seriously, if you don’t think this virus is anything to worry about—particularly if you are a younger person—I would highly recommend reading this. Trigger warning, as it describes in detail how infected people essentially drown in their own fluids.)
Who knew the world’s chosen dystopia would leave so much time for… reading?
These are strange, unsettling times, and we all need an escape from the news, the pandemic outside, the panic shoppers, and all our canceled plans and social interactions. To that end, I’ve enrolled many of my books in Smashwords’ new Authors Give Back Sale, which runs from March 20 to April 20th.
Here are my nonfiction titles that are currently 60% off:
- A Novel Plan
- Confessions of a 3-Day Novelist: How to Write an Entire Book in Just 72 Hours
- Everything I Need to Know About Love I Learned From Pop Songs
- NaNoWriMo: A Cheater’s Guide
- The Vixen Files: Naughty Notes from a Montreal Sex Columnist
And here are my fiction titles, also at 60% off:
- Haiku for Lovers
- Just A Quickie
- Sex and the Underground City (Naked Montreal Book 1)
And, finally, a freebie: How to Suck Better, a short instruction manual for all of you lovers stuck indoors together.
Thanks for supporting indie literature in these troubled times. I hope you enjoy my work, and I look forward to bringing you lots of new “Sacramento Love” stories as part of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge starting April 1st!
