New Year, new goals

I don’t like the idea of New Year’s Resolutions. They tend to be broken fairly quickly, particularly the stale, vague ones like “Lose X number of pounds” or “Eat healthier.”

So instead, I like to make new goals for every new year.

Starting with a blank slate is always fun – and a little intimidating! So I’ve been thinking about what I’d really like to accomplish this year, based on some of the things I accomplished last year, as well as some of the things I never got around to doing.

In addition to the four mostly fun goals pictured above, I’m also aiming to complete the following in 2016:

  • Launch Best of Black Heart 2016 by January 31st
  • Launch Everything I Need to Know About Love I Learned from Pop Songs for February 14th
  • Learn more about crafting mysteries, and finally finish The Case of the Cunning Linguist
  • Turn Cunning Linguist into a series, featuring my sleuth, Venus Delmar
  • Finally get a treadmill so I can try out the treadmill desk, at least part-time
  • Book more awesome speakers for the San Diego chapter of the Nonfiction Authors Association

And, of course, I have a few personal goals that I’m keeping just to myself. But those 10 seem fairly reasonable for now.

What about you?

What are your goals for 2016, and how will you accomplish them?
