Summertime haiku winners
It was a difficult choice between the many awesome summertime haiku entries we received, but we’ve finally made our decision.
And the winner is…
SHANDYOWL!
The winning poem was an ironic twist on the typical summer “fun in the sun” poem, which we found quite humorous:
Discarded beer cans,
Raindrops falling on your head.
Glasgow barbecue.
We have also selected two runners up, Tricia and James Bojaciuk, for their more hardboiled takes on the summertime haiku. Tricia’s haiku featured sunburn and the implication of sex, while James’ poem smelled of strawberries and lust. Both were erotically charged and therefore totally awesome.
We have contacted the winners via email, and prizes are forthcoming.
Stay tuned for more fun haiku contests on the blog, and don’t forget to submit to our upcoming London, Paris and Timbuktu Haiku anthologies!
