Buttontapper Press is moving in a new direction. Up until now, the press has served solely as the banner under which I publish my digital works, including my novel Rebels of the 512, my nonfictional collection The Vixen Files: Naughty Notes from a Montreal Sex Columnist, and various erotic short stories. Those will continue to be published here, always and forever. However…
Today the press is also open to new submissions.
That’s right: Buttontapper Press is now accepting manuscripts by writers from anywhere in the world. But before you line up your manuscript and hit send, here’s what we’re all about.
Buttontapper Press publishes short fiction for e-readers. How short? Less than 10,000 words. We dig flash fiction and short stories, and we are committed to publishing several digital anthologies per year, on specified themes, as well as releasing new digital works on a rolling basis. When we put out a call for submissions, we will publish the best works as stand-alone digital shorts at all major e-bookstores. Our anthologies will collect these shorts together in a single volume, which will be available as both an ebook and a print-on-demand book.
All accepted authors will receive royalties for their works, as well as digital copies.
But let’s cut to the chase, shall we? Here’s what we want:
Our first anthology is all about the ladies. Or, more specifically, the War on Women that is currently happening in the U.S., as demonstrated by certain politicians’ use of the term “legitimate rape.” In the words of one Twisted Sister, “we’re not gonna take it,” and we’re looking for strong female characters to lead the way. Heroines who kick ass, women who don’t take no for an answer, ladies who won’t let a man stand in their way. We’re looking for all types of stories: humorous, serious, vengeful, dark, sexy, strange, and above all intelligent. Give us characters we can care about, not caricatures; give us a plot we can believe in, no matter how far-fetched. Give us some Damned Dames!
Submissions are open to all, but must include a female hero (or anti-hero).
Ready? Send us your best work via Submittable. Please be sure to include a brief (100-word) bio as part of your cover letter, as well as a link to your blog or website.
Thanks for reading, and we look forward to working with you!
