34th Parallel offers writers the rockstar treatment, with full color issues and photos of said authorial rockstars accompanying each of their works. Not just a teensy bio photo at the end of the piece, either, but full-sized (some might even say oversized!) photos that show off the creative force behind each story.
I’m happy to report that I am one of those featured writers!
That’s me, chillin’ and illin’ at a favorite brunch spot in Montréal. (Note the creepy Conservative Party poster on the lamppost behind me. As an equilizing force, in the full-sized version of the photo you can see an article in the newspaper I’m reading with the headline “I’m gay!”)
34th Parallel Issue 16 is currently on sale in both digital and print editions, and comes in either B&W or full color. My featured story is entitled “Sam Metro’s Weather,” and concerns a faulty weatherman’s increasingly bizarre predictions.
In addition to my story, I was also surprised and delighted to find NOIR contributor Changming Yuan’s poetry gracing the pages of the latest issue, so be sure to grab a copy and check us out!

Just read the first two paragraphs of Sam Metro. So quirky! I love it! Gonna read the rest now. Congrats, Laura.
Thanks, Kris! Quirky definitely sums it up. My writing tends to either be over-the-top sexy or head-scratchingly odd. Personally, I prefer the latter.
