One hundred jobs, and no drug mules

I was reading through the ELAN newsletter this afternoon, and I noticed an ad toward the end of the page that inspired me to put up my “Writing and Editing Services” page once more. The ad was from a woman by the name of Aimee Davison, and said that she was looking for 100 jobs at $100 a piece, as part of an ever-evolving web project. Intrigued, I clicked the link to her website, One Hundred Jobs.

Davison is a Montreal-based model and actor, and knows full well that most creative types need to have a variety of freelance and/or odd jobs on the go in order to make ends meet. As such, she has started a project where she offers her multitude of creative services to anyone with $100 to burn. She says there’s “no job too lame,” and will do anything from toilet scrubbing to filing, so long as the job fits within the scope of an 8-hour workday. She then documents the jobs on her website, giving short blurbs about what her responsibilities are, plus the occasional YouTube video to give you more in-depth coverage on gigs like her grandmother’s “secret” job for her. (SPOILER: It turns out her grandmother wanted her to paint her basement floor. She also has an awesome comment in the video about people who may want to have Aimee do illegal things, like acting as a drug mule.)

Brilliant! In fact, I may just have to borrow this idea from Aimee and put it to work for me here in Austin. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

In any case, I’m currently looking for work, and if you’re in search of a top-quality writer and/or editor (copy editing, proofreading or content editing), I’m your gal. Like Aimee, I’m also open to other job opportunities, so long as they don’t involve anything X-rated or the removal of clothing and pay a minimum of $100 for 8 hours (or less) of work. Serious enquiries only. Hit me up using the contact form and let’s make a deal!
